Right Honorable Kwasi Kwarteng brings a wealth of experience from his distinguished political career, having served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from September 6, 2022, to October 14, 2022, where he shaped national economic policy, and as Secretary of State for the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy from January 8, 2021, to September 6, 2022, driving energy and industrial initiatives.

Prior roles include Minister of State in the same department and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Exiting the European Union (2018-2019), where he influenced global trade negotiations. Educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, with degrees in classics and history, and a PhD in economic history, Kwasi also attended Harvard University on a Kennedy Scholarship.

Before entering politics as the Conservative MP for Spelthorne in 2010, he worked as a financial analyst. His passions include history, music, and languages, and he has authored several books, including Ghosts of Empire and Thatcher’s Trial.
